Non-monotonic modal logic of belief

چکیده
We propose an alternative non-monotonic modal formalism called non-monotonic modal logic of belief. It is based on replacing the classical fixpoint equation E = ThS(A ∪ {Mφ : E 6`S ¬φ}) with the belief fixpoint equation E = ThS(A ∪ {Mφ : E 6`S ¬Mφ}). The solutions of the belief fixpoint equation, called belief S-expansions, are tightly related to the logic of belief KD45. We show interpretation of default logic in non-monotonic modal logic of belief and present minimal model semantics for belief expansions.

Revision by Translation
In this paper, we show that it is possible to accomplish belief revision in any logic which is translatable to classical logic. We start with the example of the propositional modal logic K and show that a belief operation in K de ned in terms of K0s translation to classical logic veri es the AGM postulates. We also consider the case of non-classical logics by taking Belnap's four-valued logic [...
متن کاملLogic of Negation-Complete Interactive Proofs (Formal Theory of Epistemic Deciders)
We produce a decidable classical normal modal logic of internalised negation-complete or disjunctive non-monotonic interactive proofs (LDiiP) from an existing logical counterpart of non-monotonic or instant interactive proofs (LiiP). LDiiP internalises agent-centric proof theories that are negation-complete (maximal) and consistent (and hence strictly weaker than, for example, Peano Arithmetic)...

متن کاملThe Gödel and the Splitting Translations
When the new research area of logic programming and non-monotonic reasoning emerged at the end of the 1980s, it focused notably on the study of mathematical relations between different non-monotonic formalisms, especially between the semantics of stable models and various non-monotonic modal logics. Given the many and varied embeddings of stable models into systems of modal logic, the modal int...
متن کاملMany-Valued Non-Monotonic Modal Logics
Among non-monotonic systems of reasoning, non-monotonic modal logics, and autoepistemic logic in particular, have had considerable success. The presence of explicit modal operators allows flexibility in the embedding of other approaches. Also several theoretical results of interest have been established concerning these logics. In this paper we introduce non-monotonic modal logics based on many...
